Someone told me last week that they don’t pay attention to politics, and more specifically that they had NO politics. This may have been the most ridiculous statement I’ve heard all week.

Everyone has politics, it’s just that most are to scared to proclaim them, for fear of confrontation.

If you are in business, you have them, for politics is the language of business.

If you are employed, you have politics regarding anything that may affect your job.

If you have kids, you have them at every parent teacher conference you have been to.

We are all involved in politics every day for politics is “.. a process by which groups of people make collective decisions”.

If you think about it; it happens all the time.

No it’s not that people are not involved in politics, just certain abstractions of them that our culture has managed to make off limits for casual conversation.

At some point in a bar, someone said “no politics or religion” and unfortunately it stuck. Now with the advent of the left/right paradigm (Repulicans no! Demacrats no! Red/Blue, conservative/liberal  blah blah) it seems that many stand in silence with their ideas and allow those with money and influence to reap all of the power of ideas.

Regardless of your stance, I myself have to give credit to those Americans brave enough to stand by their ideas and be heard; regardless of whether or not I agree with them.

These conversations are growing, and sadly so is the attack on ideas. People are out there who are so programmed by media, that they continue to be parrots of an agenda they don’ t even bother to understand. However, more and more people are becoming educated and we find ourselves on the brink of and ideological revolution.

Occupy Saint Louis was cleared from the park last night by the STL city police (who were very civil I must add) and many were taken to jail for exercising their 1st amendment rights.

Their belongings were thrown into trash trucks in violation of their 4th amendment rights.

These people whether or not you agree with their politics, have stood in the face of power and let them be known.

This is what  created this country, what has defined it, and what maintains it.

All that is needed for evil to prevail, is that good men stand by and do nothing.

Something tells me they will be back, for ideas are bulletproof and cannot be caged.
